Nunchaku Video and Laws

Even though I don't use Nunchaku as such I am constantly asked if they are
legal or illegal, Nunchaku in most countries are illegal but not all. What there
doesn't seem to be is any kind of database on which countries do allow
possession of them. If you would like to fill in the Nunchaku form below with what
the laws state in your country, about possession of the Nunchaku. they will be
posted on this page and a lot of people will be very Grateful and I thank you for
your contribution on there behalf.

Over the last few months more and more Martial art web sites are selling what
they call Glo Chux, Glow Chux, Glow Nunchaku - Nunchacka - Nunchucks even
though these may be similar to Glowstick Twisters they aren’t and most if not all
Law Enforcement agencies still classify them as Nunchaku and they will act
accordingly to their Laws.

America
Washington DC

The Law’s in Washington DC say even though it isn’t illegal to carry them, they can only
be used for demonstration or for martial arts tournaments if you are caught using these on another person they automatically become illegal and are counted as an offensive

Australia

Nunchaku are illegal but if you are Accredited with the Martial Arts Association and
have an Instructors licence u are legally allowed to have them but u must store and
transport them in a locked container. Chris Asimus Australia

England

Even though Nunchaku are not illegal in England, there are strict guide lines you have to
follow. 1. You cannot carry them concealed anywhere on your body. If you do and you are stopped by the police YOU will be charged with having an offensive weapon, and you could end up getting a big fine / penalty or even imprisonment. 2. You are allowed to transport them but they have to be in a lockable bag, I’VE a sports bag with a zip. Something so you cant have quick access to the Nunchaku 3. If you wish to practice in public places with Nunchaku it is recommended you tell your local police station of your intentions, where you will be training, when and for how long. give them a try you maybe surprised how co-operative they are. what they don't like is members of the public phoning them and telling them there is someone using Nunchaku in a public place, as they have to respond to it as someone using an offensive weapon and you will be treated accordingly. It would also help if you had some public liability insurance to cover your self ( This is not a requirement ) as if you make a mistake and you hit a member of the public you will be covered in any civil matter. this also shows how serious you are in the art of Nunchaku and it does look better when you Tell the police about training in public places. France

The Nunchaku is considered by the French legislation as a weapon of 6th category. The
port and the use prohibited in downtown's. You can buy a Nunchaku, but you cannot
transport it. The tonfa is also regarded as weapon 6th category. The port of the Nunchaku can, on certain occasions, being compared to a wearing of offensive weapon. If you are not in a private place, ensure that the Nunchaku is wrapped in a case, at the bottom of your bag, proving thus that it cannot quickly be caught in hands. Always ensure that a sufficient space is available around you and never handle in the presence of a person located at less than three meters of you. Aneka Nacim France.

Lebanon

They are legal In Lebanon under these conditions: - only the foam and chrome Nunchaku are allowed. - a Nunchaku
player ID from an official martial arts club. - a Nunchaku player ID from an official Nunchaku federation like LNF,
FINCA and WNA. - you have to carry your Nunchaku in a Nunchaku case with a zip. - you can’t hold the Nunchaku in
the presence of another person less than three meters away from you. - you can practice the Nunchaku in public with
a professional instructor. and lately the police started asking about the International Sportive Nunchaku passport. If
you are stopped by the police and you missed any of the above you will be asked to hide the Nunchaku. Adham
Affara (Lebanon Nunchaku Champion) has been instrumental in getting the authorities to change their attitude
towards the Nunchaku.

Netherlands / Belgium

Well polish right is very - heh - strange. About Nunchaku law says that it is not a safe weapon and treated as a firearm. But you can get permit if you are 21-years-old and not have a criminal record. If you use weapon for sports, educational or recreation, permit on weapon is not required - but I haven't checked it in real life. There is funny case with definition what Nunchaku is - because it doesn't exist or I have not found it in Poland. Also there is funny case with swords, axes etc. They isn't any mention put in act.
